Membership & Certification
Once you sign up for a DC Sail membership and pass our certification test, you will gain access to our fleet of Flying Scots and FJs. Membership expires one year from the day that it is purchased. The money from memberships goes towards DC Sail's overhead & boat
maintenance, and, all of our profits goes towards Kids Set Sail. We thank you for your support and welcome you to DC Sail!

NMHF Basic Membership - $50

We recommend becoming a Basic Member if you have some sailing experience. It allows you take a certification test that, if passed, gives you access to our fleet without an instructor. Certified members can bring their friends who are non-members for a sail. See below for more information on the certification test. Please print your receipt and bring it down the first time you come to the facility. You can also print & fill out the Medical & Waiver Form and bring it with you to the first lesson. We keep copies of this form at the facility too, so you can fill it out the day of the first course if you'd like.

Super members get unlimited boat rentals for FREE and get big discounts on lessons. If you want to come sailing regularly, this is the option for you. Just like the Basic Membership, it also allows you take a certification test, which gives you access to our fleet without an instructor.
Certified members can bring their friends who are non-members for a sail. See below for more information on the certification test. The Certification Test
When: Our Calendar lists the dates & times when you can schedule a Certification Test
DC Sail Members who pass our certification test gain access to our fleet of Flying Scots and FJ's. If you are new to sailing or need a refresh your skills, you should take our learn-to-sail course. The exam consists of an on-water portion where you need to perform 3 tacks, 3 gybes, a man-overboard drill and a land-at-a-mooring drill. Then you take our 10-question written exam.
