Racing with DC Sail

Frostbiting: Sundays, November - March

If you're interested in sailing through the winter months, DC Sail's frostbiting will get you out on the water just about every Sunday from November - March for racing on DC Sail's FJs, Lasers and RS boats. Racing is $50 for each 6-week series for members.

It is a REQUIREMENT that all frostbite sailors wear the proper gear while participating.  See the NOR below for details.

DC Sail highly recommends that racers inform themselves about the dangers of cold water before they participate in Frostbiting. Please visit COLDWATERBOOTCAMP for more information.

Summer 2011 Race Nights

DC Sail's Summer Racing is held on Thursday evenings beginning in May. The season is broken into four series. You can sign up for each series as a whole, or pay individually for each week. Racing is $30 for each 5-week series or $10 per race.

• Series 1: May 19, May 26, June 2, June 9, June 16
• Series 2: June 23, June 30, July 7, July 14, July 21
• Series 3: July 28, August 4, August 11, August 18, August 25
• Series 4: September 1, September 8, September 15, September 22, September 29

Sign in begins at 5:30pm and racing begins at 6:30.

No racing experience is required, however, it is encouraged that sailors have a basic knowledge of the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). To gain this knowledge and an insight into tactics, strategy and boat handling, sailors can take DC Sail's Introduction to Racing lessons.
