Blair Overman, Director of Sailing

Blair, a US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 Certified instructor, grew up sailing on the Neuse River in North Carolina. This is Blair's 4th sailing season with DC Sail; she joined in May 2008 as the Director of Youth Programs, and she is currently the Director of Sailing Programs. Before coming to DC Sail, Blair worked for the sailing program at Camp Seafarer in Arapahoe, North Carolina. Here, she gained many years of sailing instruction experience while working with a fleet of over 70 boats that over 1,000 youth on the water each summer.

Emily grew up on a small sailing island in New England. As a recent graduate of George Washington University, she brings her knowledge and passion for non-profits and all things operational to DC Sail. She is the friendly voice that picks up when you call the office and she's the one that helps to keep our programs operating smoothly.

Brian, also a level 1 Certified instructor, grew up learning how to sail in Southern New Jersey. Brian has lived and worked in the Caribbean doing various sailing related jobs. He has done one trans-Atlantic crossing. He comes to DC sail with a background in sales and marketing. Brian will be helping to run our Adult sailing program. If you need any assistance at the dock don’t hesitate to ask him for help.
Our Volunteer Instructors
Our instructors are dedicated and skilled volunteers who undergo annual training to bring the best quality sailing instruction to the water. Many of our instructors are US Sailing Certified Instructors, and have sailed in all corners of the globe.

Seth Berger - Seth is a U.S. Sailing Certified instructor, and has sailed with DC Sail for nearly 5 years. He has spent time sailing in Annapolis and the Caribbean. He enjoys spending his weekends at the waterfront teaching others to sail.

Greg Simonson - Greg can be found at the waterfront on a regular basis. He has an incredible passion for teaching and dedicates his time off the water, as Chairman of the Sailors Advisory Group (SAG) for DC Sail.
