FLEET REVITALIZATION CAPITAL CAMPAIGN To read more about current and future phases of the campaign, click here. PHASE 1: Flying Scot Sails After years of loving (but heavy) use by our programming, it’s time for a refresh. Our friends at North Sails are partnering with us to replenish our fleet with a new set of main and jib sails for the 2026 season!
North Sails has a high standard of quality and a track record of providing our fleets with top-of-the-line rigging. Given the significant amount of use that our fleet endures, it's important to invest in a product that we know will last for years to come. To show their shared support of our mission, North Sails is generously offering us a discounted price for our bulk purchase. These sails will benefit our whole community, including our summer camp sailors and scholarship recipients in the Kids Set Sail youth program.
FUNDRAISER PROGRESS
CURRENT – $3,800 GOAL – $13,000 (thermometer updates weekly) | Youth Scholarship Program DC Sail, a program of the National Maritime Heritage Foundation, is the only community-based non-profit sailing organization in the District of Columbia. Our program revenue and your donations, along with year-around fundraising initiatives, "break the barriers" to entry into the beautiful sport of sailing. With scholarships, DC Sail is able to provide opportunities for the youth of our community to learn how to sail and gain knowledge in boating safety. ![]() The goal of our youth programs is to teach young people the skills they will need to be successful sailors and lifetime skills such as teamwork, decision-making and respect for our fragile waterway systems and overall environment. DC Sail also provides a pathway for continuing to participate in our programs through their school years, and ultimately offers of paid employment opportunities when the sailors are skill and age-eligible!
