DC Sail - 2026 Halloween Regatta

DC Sail will be hosting our popular annual Halloween Regatta on Saturday, October 31, 2026. Fun, feasting, and costumed sailors on the water for an afternoon of racing, followed by the Awards Ceremony including trophies for the Halloween Regatta, Best Costume, and the 2026 Adult Racing Program 2026 Series. 

Hailing all Pirates, Ghoulies, Witches and Wizards!

DC Sail's end-of-season, spooktacular "Halloween Regatta," complete with costumed sailors, will be hosted on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

The Halloween Regatta is open to DC Sail Members and Non-Members! Friends and family are welcome to register for the event. (Current DC Sail Fall 2026 High School Racing Program sailors are also invited! Rally your fellow DC Sail HSR sailors to form teams.)

Following the Halloween Regatta, RC will present an Awards Ceremony for the 2026 Adult Racing Program Series, the Halloween Regatta, and BEST COSTUME! 

Cost: $40/per person.

Registration: A link can be found in the red box at the bottom of the page. You'll have the option to register as a Team if you know who you'll be sailing with or as an Individual, where RC will assist in teaming you up with another sailor on the day of the event. Please note we will only be using the Flying Junior fleet for this event. FJ sailing and racing experience is required.

Time: Arrival at 10:00 AM for check in and "Bountiful Boooo-fet" (Bagels, pastries, fruit, coffee, juice, etc. will be provided. *Lunch is not included - please plan accordingly. If you have ANY food allergies or concerns, please be prepared and bring your own food for the day. There will only be very brief breaks from racing and not enough time to pick up food from a nearby restaurant or store.)

Regatta: Competitors' Meeting at 10:30 AM

First Start: 11:00 AM

Awards Ceremony: 3:00 PM on DC Sail Docks

Location: Racing will take place at our Diamond Teague Park Piers location. 99 Potomac Avenue SE, Washington, DC 20003. Please click here to launch a Google Map. 

Things to Bring: Don your best costume, bring your lifejacket, a refillable water bottle, and come prepared for what you'll need for the balance of the day as far as lunch and snacks as noted above.

Restricted Dock Access During the Halloween Regatta:

Only Halloween Regatta participants will be permitted on our DC Sail docks. Due to security, safety, and dock logistics, spectators/guests will not be permitted access. Also, please leave your pets at home. For anyone interested in observing the Regatta, they may view from the shore along the Anacostia Riverwalk. (Typically, the race course(s) are positioned near our facility. The most favorable wind conditions will determine course set up and location.) 

• For our F&B (menu and catering order) planning logistics, registration will close at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
• Should the weather conditions fall within the realm of the "Wet/Dry Suit" requirements where there is a heightened risk of hypothermia resulting from capsize, (air/water combined temperatures of less than 120 degrees, e.g.; air temperature 50 degrees - water temperature 63 degrees,) the event will be cancelled. Other WX conditions that may cause cancellation include thunderstorms, relentless rain, high winds, no wind, etc. 
• The event will also be cancelled if there are low registration numbers of fewer than 10 paid participants. 
• In the event of cancellation, we will send an email message to registrants and will issue a full refund of registration fees.
