Instructor - Adult Beginner Learn to Sail Program (Multiple Positions Available.) Company: DC Sail - National Maritime Heritage Foundation Position: Instructors (Multiple Positions Available) Duration Needed: May through mid-October Availability: Weekends 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM - Part time Location: DC Sail, Diamond Teague Park Piers, 99 Potomac Avenue SE, Washington D.C. 20003 Programming Format: We are seeking to add to our staff for our Adult Beginner Learn to Sail program. Each student moves through Lessons 1, 2, 3, 4 to complete their course/certification. Class size is a maximum of four adult students with their Instructor on a Flying Scot. DC Sail follows the US Sailing Small Boat Sailing Curriculum. Training and support will be provided. There will be professional Dock Management staff on site during the programs as well. Position Description: Shifts are from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM - Saturdays and Sundays. An additional hour at the end of class may be requested to assist Dock Management staff to prep for incoming DC Sail Members' Rentals in the afternoon (cleaning boats, etc.) Compensation: Dependent on experience and commitment for the full sailing season. This is considered a part-time seasonal position - no benefits included. Requirements: Instructors should be accomplished sailors with solid sail theory skills and the ability to convey curriculum to our students in a friendly, informative, and calm communication style. US Sailing Level One Instructor Certification preferred but not required. Former experience as a sailing instructor is desired.
